The AGM was hosted by Social Director Mrs. Jiafang Chen. President Mr. Qiquan Zhang delivered the official welcome speech and formally opened the meeting.
Mr. Zhang presented the annual operations report, summarizing the association’s management, key achievements, and activities throughout 2024. A notable highlight was the successful organization of multiple charity performances at nursing homes. Other activities included recreational programs such as folk dance, balloon dance, music band performances, table tennis, Tai Chi, and singing.
Treasurer Mrs. Haimeng Luk presented the financial report for the year ending January 10, 2025. Attendees reviewed and discussed the report, offering questions and suggestions to improve the management and effectiveness of program activities for 2025.
All 86 attendees approved the reports and expressed their appreciation to the board of directors and volunteers for their dedication and contributions throughout 2024.
Jiahemay Senior Association held a “New Year Gala"

On January 17, 2025 (the 18th day of the twelfth lunar month), Jiahemay Senior Association held a “New Year Gala" in the auditorium of the Valley Citizen Activity Center in Mississauga, Canada. More than 100 members and Chinese friends participated in the event happily.
This is a rare good day. In the past few days, Mississauga and surrounding areas have been overcast, sometimes with light snow, sometimes heavy snow, the temperature is as low as minus ten degrees, the north wind is blowing, and the cold is pressing. Today, the sky is clear, the wind is fine, and at 8 o’clock in the morning, the temperature turns above zero, the ice and snow on the road melt, and the outdoor air is fresh and pleasant. It is really a good day. At the coming of the New Year, it helps the Chinese celebrate the festival! They put on all kinds of beautiful costumes. Some program groups also took the time to rehearse before going on stage. The actors in various costumes were full of emotions, heroic, energetic, and charming. They went in and out, talked and laughed, and took photos. It was so lively! What a harmonious and beautiful family! Although most of the actors are elders, at this time, they are full of youthful vitality, just like the song says: Look at the white-haired grandmother, she looks like seventeen or eighteen when she straightens her back.
Jiahemei Elderly Association provides this activity platform for Chinese elders living in Mississauga and surrounding towns, so that everyone has the opportunity to go out of the house every week, sing, dance, play musical instruments, cultivate everyone’s interests and hobbies, find a happy and happy quality of life in a foreign country, and form a harmonious and beautiful diverse social atmosphere in Canada!
The performance venue has been carefully arranged, with tables and chairs placed on three sides to form an audience seat. A large logo of the “Jiahemay Senior Association" is hung on the front, with white letters on a red background, which is very eye-catching. Festive red lanterns are hung on both sides, and a few bright small flower umbrellas set off the festive atmosphere. Governments at all levels in Canada attach great importance to this event. Canadian MPs, Ontario MPs, and Mississauga MPs all attended the event and gave speeches on stage. Happy New Year! Wishing Chinese Canadians a Happy Spring Festival! Amid applause, they sent congratulatory letters from governments at all levels in Canada to President Jack.
President Jack gave a speech, wishing all friends a prosperous Year of the Snake, happiness and well-being!
The first program at the beginning of the show was the opening dance – “Celebration". 18 beautiful actresses were divided into three groups. Six of them wore red shirts and white pants, blue-edged gold waistcoats, red silk tied their heads, and waist drums were worn diagonally. Long red silk ribbons floated on the drumsticks; six of them wore pink skirts and white shoes, ancient costumes, and danced with ribbons that gradually changed from yellow to red; and six of them held red lanterns. They were agile and light-footed. They jumped and turned with the music, danced with colorful silk, and shook out their spirit; they took arrow steps, were bold and unrestrained, and danced with the cheerful rhythm, moving the world with great momentum! The performance was so shocking!
Tai Chi performance, a team of more than 20 people appeared together, the performers’ movements were smooth and natural, hard and soft, soft with hard, hard with soft, both powerful and beautiful, making people feel relaxed and happy. The background music “Butterfly Lovers" was melodious and earth-shaking.
Model dance “Apple Fragrance", 11 actors wearing printed black long skirts, wearing beautiful necklaces of various styles, dignified and beautiful, dynamic and fashionable model steps, all in the style of the Chinese nation! A black cheongsam shows the elegant and noble temperament.
The female chorus sang songs such as “For Peace", accompanied by Elsa Hsieh’s electronic piano and led the conductor. The 9 actors cooperated tacitly, sometimes high-pitched and passionate, sometimes affectionate, and conveyed the emotions of the song to the audience.
The instrumental ensemble “Men Should Be Self-reliant" and other songs have been innovated in the reserved programs. The band lineup has been expanded, especially the orchestral music is outstanding, magnificent, heroic and atmospheric, and shocking. The band members’ skilled acting skills and tacit cooperation make several classic songs naturally connected, perfect, and give people auditory enjoyment
Xinjiang dance “A Cup of Wine", lotus-colored skirt, gold belt, and many small braids under the Xinjiang ethnic minority hat. The three performers danced gracefully and unrestrainedly, full of vitality, and every move was beautiful and full of Uyghur style.
The round fan dance “Searching for you in the mountains" shows how many young men and women have been sad about separation since ancient times. When will you return home when the moonlight shines on the stream? “Searching for you in the mountains" is a soft and lyrical classical round fan dance with elegant charm. Erhu solo “Horse Racing", the performer skillfully uses the playing techniques such as staccato and continuous staccato to show the multi-layered nature of the music, combining the melody of folk songs with modern elements, showing a unique musical realm. The unrestrained and passionate melody depicts the unique charm of Mongolian culture.
Double Tai Chi Fan “Entering the New Era", male and female actors perform the most beautiful dance with fans accompanied by melodious tunes, cheerful and grand. Tai Chi and fans, across thousands of years, passion and momentum, are all hidden in the dancing fans! This kind of exercise that combines fitness and art is completely the soul of Chinese Kung Fu martial arts, and every move shows cultural confidence.
The band played “The Water of Wanquan River is Clear and Clear", the water of Wanquan River is clear and clear, I weave a hat to send to the Red Army, the army loves the people and the people support the army, the army and the people are united as one family, one family. The music is beautiful and pleasant, and the dancers dance with hats in their hands. The author noticed that the male actors (party representatives) in the dance accompaniment danced many times in different roles, which was very hard!
The brass ensemble “Scarborough Fair" was performed in a “foreign" white dress. A clarinet, a brass flute, and a blowpipe were played in perfect harmony. The melody was beautiful and poignant. The simple notes formed a tune that touched the soul, with a touch of melancholy, making people immersed in an indescribable poignancy.
The song and dance “Painting You" was performed with intoxicating singing and beautiful dancing! The Tibetan costumes of the male and female actors were very authentic and decent. The male actor had a deep and loud singing voice, performed naturally, interacted with the audience from time to time, and was very friendly. The two female actors performed Tibetan dances in an authentic way. Every move was relaxed and full of appeal! Tibetan dance “Golden Sunshine", Gala Yasino Nono, shines on the snow-capped mountains, Yila Qiangba Nono! Use the agile posture like the wind to release the passion accumulated in summer, the dance moves are beautiful and the dance posture is graceful. It’s just three dancers wearing boat-shaped hats. The author didn’t understand it very well. Is it considered innovation?
Chopstick dance “Chopsticks Enjoy the Grassland" is a special dance of the Mongolian people. The dance uses chopsticks as props to show the charm of unique culture. The actors on stage are dressed in blue Tibetan costumes and white boots. They flexibly use the chopsticks with red tassels in their hands to dance gracefully, showing the dancers’ graceful posture and sense of rhythm.
Tai Chi sword “I love the snow in the north of the Great Wall", accompanied by beautiful tunes, the actors dance Tai Chi swords, beautiful like the breeze swaying willows, flowing like clouds and water, showing elegance in the smoothness, and showing softness in the nature. It is indeed a combination of movement and stillness, and hardness and softness.
The Yi dance “Soma Flower" is the finale of the whole performance. The actors’ costumes are the same as the Yi festival costumes and are luxurious and beautiful. “Soma flowers bloom, Soma flowers fall", the original song and dance performance gives people a shocking effect.
The more than two-hour performance came to an end. People immersed in joy waved goodbye reluctantly and said goodbye to each other!
After the “New Year’s Gala", everyone in the Jiahemay Senior Association group spoke and congratulated the Jiahemay Senior Association for the success of this event! Many videos and photos taken on the spot were also posted.

Jiahemay Senior Association: 2024 Annual Summary and 2025 Outlook
In 2024, the Jiahemay Senior Association has always adhered to the purpose of “serving the elderly in the community and enriching their later life". Through a series of diversified cultural and sports activities, it has built a joyful and warm communication platform for the elderly. Tai Chi, dance, band, and community charity performances make every gathering full of laughter and become a beautiful memory in the lives of the elderly.
Highlights of 2024
Tai Chi Team: The perfect combination of health and culture The Tai Chi team attracted more than 2,000 participants throughout the year, including Tai Chi, Tai Chi sword, Tai Chi fan, and other exercises. This not only improves the physical fitness of the elderly, but also becomes a link for cross-cultural exchanges and enhances the friendship between the elderly in the Chinese and Vietnamese communities.
Dance team: the bloom of diversity and vitality The dance team focuses on folk dance and catwalk dance, with more than 2,400 participants throughout the year:
—Folk dance: Through performances such as “Soma Flower", “Golden Sunshine" and “A Glass of Wine," the richness and charm of Chinese culture are vividly demonstrated. —Catwalk dance: Combining themes such as cheongsam, Hanfu and retro Hong Kong style, it perfectly integrates tradition and fashion, becoming one of the highlights of the association’s activities and widely praised by the audience.
Band activities: Happy time brought by music The band attracted nearly 2,000 people to participate through instrumental performances such as flute, harmonica, erhu, electronic keyboard, saxophone, electric wind instrument, and the clever combination of chorus and dance. The outstanding performance at various literary and artistic evenings won warm applause and became an important part of the association’s cultural activities.
Community charity performances: conveying love and care This year, the association participated in more than ten community activities and nursing home charity performances, including multicultural festivals, food festivals, police-civilian parties, etc. These activities not only spread Chinese culture, but also brought warmth and joy to the community and the elderly.
Volunteer support: grateful for every contribution Thanks to every volunteer and association leader for their selfless contribution. They played a key role in event planning, organization, and logistics support and are a solid backing for the smooth development of each event.

Today, December 4, the jiahemay senior Association was invited to participate in the Christmas lunch held by the community. The scene was full of festive joy and warmth.
The arrival of Santa Claus made the atmosphere even more lively. He took photos with everyone and sent good wishes. Then, the familiar Christmas melody sounded, and everyone sang songs spontaneously, and the songs echoed in the venue.
The rich food and joyful atmosphere made people feel satisfied. Members used the camera to record countless beautiful moments. Every photo was full of joy and captured sincere emotions.
Thanks to the community’s careful preparation, we spent an unforgettable day in laughter and singing.
The Jiahemay senior Association brings warmth and laughter to the nursing home
At 9:15 am on November 20, the Jiahemay senior Association Art Troupe walked into AgeCare Wenleigh Nursing Home (Mississauga) and presented a wonderful art performance for the elderly.
Careful preparation, passionate presentation To ensure the smooth progress of the performance, the members arrived at the scene early and were busy with the set, rehearsal and makeup. The photographer also set up the equipment and prepared to record the wonderful moments. The association thoughtfully prepared fruits, snacks and water to ensure that everyone was energetic.
Rich programs and continuous applause The performance included more than ten programs, including instrumental performances, dances and songs, integrating Chinese culture and diverse characteristics. The graceful dance and beautiful music made the elderly feel happy. The head of the nursing home said: “The performance of the Jiahemei Art Troupe today was very wonderful! The music was beautiful and the dance was moving. We old people were very happy to watch it, and even felt excited to tears. Many elderly people were exposed to the music and performances of Chinese culture for the first time, and they expressed their deep love!"

Text: On October 16, the Jiahemay Senior Association held a warm and artistic performance for the elderly at the Chartwell Robert Speck Elderly Apartment, bringing them a warm and pleasant afternoon. The association prepared 14 wonderful programs, including folk dance, ballet, instrumental performances, and classic songs, with the participation of more than 40 actors and volunteers, bringing a refreshing experience to the elderly.
On the day of the performance, the elderly gathered at the door of the apartment early, greeted us enthusiastically, and took photos with us. The atmosphere was warm and warm. As the music sounded, the elderly interacted with the actors with great interest, especially in several familiar classic English songs, the lively people couldn’t help but hum softly, as if they had returned to their youth. Each program brought different joys, and the faces of the elderly were filled with smiles.
The whole performance brought rich audio-visual enjoyment to the elderly. After the performance, the apartment manager wrote a thank-you letter to express his heartfelt gratitude to the Jiahemay senior Association and praised the event for bringing real joy and warmth. Seeing their real feedback, all the actors and volunteers of the association felt extremely gratified to be able to show their love and contribute to the elderly.
Since its establishment, the Jiahemay senior Association has always adhered to the truth of “caring for the elderly and conveying warmth", and through various literary and artistic activities, it has brought companionship and a warm future to the elderly. We will continue to walk into the lives of the elderly, bring them care and joy, and let more people enjoy the warmth.

Title: Jiahemay senior Association appeared at Harmony Fest, and the wonderful performance conveyed community vitality On September 14, 2024, Jiahemay senior Association participated in the community crime awareness day at the China Festival in Mississauga. 2024 Mississauga Harmony Fest Community Crime Prevention Day, more than 30 members led by President Zhang brought two wonderful performances.
First, the dance “Golden Sun" male actors wore green military uniforms and female actors wore Tibetan headdresses. The whole show was full of vitality. Although the stage was small, the performance was still excellent.
Then, the actors of “Chinese Kung Fu Tai Chi Fan" wore white Tai Chi clothes, holding red fans, and their movements were neat, showing the power and softness of Tai Chi. It is particularly worth mentioning that the Filipino male member actively participated in the performance. Although he did not understand Chinese, he showed the integration of multiple cultures and invited other Filipino friends to participate in our Tai Chi activities.
During the event, members also communicated with the police about community safety issues and improved their awareness of prevention. Everyone took a group photo and ended the day happily.
