Jiahemay Senior Association Participates in the 41st Carassauga Multicultural Festival
On May 23, 2026, Jiahemay Senior Association participated in the 41st Carassauga Multicultural Festival in Mississauga. Invited to perform at the China Pavilion, the association presented two Chinese classical dances, Spring Mountain and Snow Dragon Chant, which were warmly received by the audience with enthusiastic applause.
Despite heavy rain throughout the day, participants remained enthusiastic and committed. Before the performance, the dancers found an open space inside the venue to rehearse, prepare costumes, and complete their makeup. Their dedication and attention to detail reflected both their passion for the arts and their strong spirit of community participation.
More than 20 performers took part in the performance, while over 80 association members, volunteers, family members, and friends participated in the event. Volunteers assisted with photography, videography, logistics, and on-site support, helping ensure the smooth running of the program.
A particularly encouraging highlight was the participation of three teenage volunteers. Accompanied by their family members, they assisted with translation, photography, and on-site support, demonstrating a strong sense of community engagement and youth involvement.
During the festival, Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish and representatives from the Consulate General of China in Toronto also visited the China Pavilion, joining the audience in appreciating the performances and experiencing the vibrant multicultural atmosphere.
Carassauga is one of Mississauga’s most important annual multicultural events, featuring cultural performances, exhibitions, and international communities coming together in celebration of diversity.
For many years, Jiahemay Senior Association has actively participated in this festival. Through cultural performances, the association continues to promote community engagement, enrich the lives of seniors, and contribute to multicultural understanding and inclusion.
